Special events, holidays and spring time are all great times to refresh and renew your carpets. However, if you are a pet owner, having your carpets regularly cleaned every 6-8 months can keep allergens and smells under control.
From time to time pets can have accidents, here are some tips for cleaning a soiled carpet or area rug.
If possible, clean up the stain as soon as possible. Use a paper towel to absorb as much as the wetness as possible. Stand on the towel so it pushes into the carpet to absorb. As once the urine dries, the odor will set into the fabric fibers.
Next, mix up a solution of 2 cups of vinegar, 2 cups of warm water and 4 tablespoons of baking soda.
Put solution into a spray bottle and spritz on soiled area.
Let sit for 5 to 10 minutes.
Blot with a soft cloth, repeat if necessary.
Call to have the area professionally cleaned, this will ensure the animal doesn't return to the area and have a repeat. After being cleaned the area should be fully dry prior to allowing your pet to walk on or smell the area.
